Message from IEEE Region 10 Director on the Recent Earthquake in Myanmar and Surrounding Areas

On behalf of IEEE Region 10, I would like to express my deepest sympathy and concern to all those affected by the recent earthquake in Myanmar and neighboring regions. Our thoughts are with the individuals, families, and communities who have suffered loss, injury, or displacement during this tragic event.

Natural disasters such as this remind us of both the vulnerability of our societies and the critical importance of science, engineering, and collaboration in building more resilient communities.

IEEE Region 10 stands in solidarity with the people of Myanmar and all those impacted. We recognize the dedication and courage of the emergency responders and volunteers working tirelessly to provide aid and support.

As engineers and technologists, we are also reminded of our responsibility to develop and apply technologies—in areas such as early warning systems, resilient infrastructure, and emergency communication networks—that can help mitigate the impact of such disasters in the future.

We at IEEE Region 10 are committed to supporting initiatives that leverage engineering and innovation for humanitarian response and disaster preparedness. We encourage our members to contribute their expertise, collaborate across borders, and engage in efforts that support affected communities.

Our thoughts are with you, and we extend our heartfelt wishes for safety, recovery, and strength during this difficult time.
